Chapman & Hall and the Book Society, London, 1945. Hardback. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Very scarce signed copy and 1st printing of this Chapman and Hall/Book Society collaborative edition published in May 1945 more or less simultaneously with the first Chapman and Hall trade edition. In publisher's pink/red cloth with titles in gilt to spine - all still fresh, clean and bright with a little dulling to spine tip only. The binding is tight, sound and square with pink stain to page block top edge as issued. Internally clean with no inscriptions and AUTHOR'S SIGNATURE DATED WITHOUT OTHER INSCRIPTION and FLAT-SIGNED DIRECTLY TO TITLE PAGE. The original and unclipped dustjacket remains unusually clean and bright with some very limited restoration at upper spine tip only. A lovely copy. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Signed by Author.
