M Richardson Rare Books

Good to see that book fairs are back in full swing, well, almost! You'll be able to search most of the books we have in stock on our Abebooks storefront where, for the month of April 2022 there is 30% off all of our stock. We are constantly adding new stock online also so do also contact us if you don't find what you want there. For example we have a number of scarce, signed Booker Prize winners which are not currently listed. Copy this link: https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/StoreFrontDisplay?cid=50563488 If there are any of these that you'd like to see photos of or ask for more information on then please do get in touch. M. Richardson Rare Books was formerly known as Mr. Books Bookshop and located on Tonbridge High Street in Kent, England for over 12 years up until July 2017. The shop is still there under new owners so, due to the sale of the bricks and mortar side of the business, it made sense to change our name to reflect this change of direction. (And we had to because the new owner liked the name so much it went with the business sale!) We now trade mainly online and at PBFA fairs up and down the country from our new base nestling in the foothills of the picturesque Lincolnshire Wolds. We also exhibit at Bloomsbury Book Fairs in London a few times a year, and occasionally have a small selection of fine books for sale at select antique centres, such as Hemswell, in Lincolnshire. Whilst we don't specialize in anything in particular we do lean towards certain subjects such as collectable modern fiction and children's books, and also have many fishing books and topographical books & ephemera. But really we just sell rare and fine books on many subjects. The stock is being constantly replenished so it's always worth visiting us at one of the fairs. We travel far and wide to purchase quality collections so please feel free to call us.

Grant and Lee A Study in Personality and Generalship (Signed and dedicated by the author to his Mother)

Description

A fabulous copy which is signed by the author with a dedication to his mother and reads: To dearest Mother with love from us both- John 3.6.33" It is further inscribed later by his brother simply: "AWF Fuller From Mother. This is part of a small collection of similarly signed copies of Fuller's works. (See other listings.) The cloth boards are fresh looking and have still very crisp title lettering on the spine. There is a little spotting to the boards but only really noticeable on close inspection. Internally there is a little toning to the end papers and the page block edge has the beginnings of foxing but this really is a super copy on the whole. The fold out maps at the rear are in almost pristine condition. The dust jacket is mostly bright although there is a 2 inch closed tear from the top edge of the front cover and a little minor loss at the head of the spine and fore edge corner tips flap hinges. No price clipping and in fact the price of 10s 6d Net is printed on the spine. JFC (Boney) Fuller is included in Mark Urban's book, "Generals Ten British Commanders Who Shaped the World" Some accolade indeed. A wonderful and unique copy.
