A study of the life and work of campaigner Josephine Butler who began as a worker to improve the educational rights of women with the North of England Council for Promoting the Higher Education for Women and then after the passing of the Contagious Diseases Acts she fought for their repeal and worked to help women in prostitution, the abolition of child prostitution and the end of coverture in British law. She was driven by her Christian faith to work to improve subjects that weren’t seen as lady-like in the period. Lightly rubbed. Very clean and neat.
