Ink presentation inscription to Sir Humphry Davy with Jos.h [Joseph] Huddarts Compts [compliments] Joseph Huddart FRS (Born in Allonby 1741–1816) was a British hydrographer, engineer and inventor. He surveyed harbours and coasts but made a fortune from improving the design and manufacture of rope. Sir Humphry Davy, 1st Baronet, PRS, MRIA, FGS (17 December 1778 – 29 May 1829) was a British chemist and inventor from Cornwall who invented the Davy lamp and a very early form of arc lamp. Sometime strongly bound in blue buckram cloth with Workington Public Library Local Collection ticket to the front free endpaper with ink withdrawn stamp - contents are clean and tight the ink presentation inscription closely trimmed to the top edge with minor loss - ink hand written library numbers to the verso of the title page dated 1948 - contents show some uniform age toning / with some occasional foxing [brown spot marks most notably to the frontis engraving / title page
