The Castle

First edition, first impression of the English edition (London Martin Secker, 1930). Originally published in German under the title 'Das Schloss' in 1926. This is the first of all of Kafka's novels to be translated into English. Boards and spine unmarked and wonderfully preserved with a very minor bump to spine foot; some foxing to edges, but contents completely clean and free from any inscriptions - near fine. The original, unclipped and unrestored dust jacket has some trivial chipping to corners and very small area of loss to top corner of upper panel; occasional abrasion to upper panel hinge and extremities; slight toning to spine panel. Very good or a little better. An excellent example of a rare title and hard to find in this condition.
