Printed for L.Davis, C. Reymers and B. White, London, 1766, reprint (first edition 1725). Full leather binding comprising original boards (restored) with a later replacement spine. Horizontal gilt lines to spine. Gilt lettering on red leather patch to spine. Folio, 16ins x 10.25ins, vi, 148pp plus 2 plans of sluices and 5 maps (4 folding). This volume was extensively restored in 1984 (binders notes included). The title page, first 4 pages (preface & contents) and the plan of Denver sluice have been encased in bookbinders lens tissue on both sides. The second sluice plate and the first map have been covered on one side. The whole volume was resewn, fitted with new endpapers and preserved in a purpose made slipcase. Nb please note the spine label reads "Armstrong, Navigation, 1766". A VG well preserved copy. nb the full title reads "The History of the Ancient and Present State of the Navigation of the Port of King's - Lyn, and of Cambridge, and the rest of the trading towns in those parts; and of the navigable rivers that have their course through the great level of the Fens, called Bedford Level. Also, The history of the ancient and present state of draining in that level, in the province of Marshland, and the hundreds and parts adjacent, from authentick records and ancient manuscripts; and from observations and surveys carefully made upon the spot these three years past.
