Description

John Archdeacon, printer to the University of Cambridge 1766-1793, the principal trade producing bibles and prayer books. A family bible for the Grove family (see book plate Thomas Fraser Grove, a prelim leaf records births 1782 - 1799. Estc citation T88808 lists just seven volumes in established libraries, 2 in the British Library, Oxford, Cambridge, 3 others. The record references Darlow & Moule 1247. No collation record as the pages are unpaginated though the final page Zzzz4 (Tables) accords with the citation. Estc notes the New Testament title page is dated 1776 as here. Further condition notes: browning to sides of front endpapers, slight loss to lower edge spine, small ink stain to title page lower right and small mark to lower left, slight browning to pages though the text block is very firm with a very slight water stain to extreme lower right of pages, marbled page edges are dusty, lower boards terminate flush with lower pages and no loss.
