Portfolio of Six Original Etchings

Description

Published by Art Union of London, nd but most of the etchings are dated 1895. Portfolio, brown cloth spine, green cloth boards, white lettering to front board. 18ins x 12.5ins, introductory page followed by 6 mounted etchings each signed by Oliver Hall. Actual size of the images as follows: no 1 7.75ins x 4.25ins, no 2 8.75ins x 5.75ins, no 3 6.5ins x 4.5ins, no 4.75ins x 6ins, no 5 8.75ins x 5.75ins, no 6 8ins x 4ins. The introductory page states that these etchings were first exhibited at the Royal Society of Painter Etchers and that they are chiefly of the Yorkshire and Cumberland moorlands. Unfortunately they are not captioned. The spine of the portfolio is rather fingered marked. The internal contents are VG nr F. The cloth ties to fasten the portfolio are broken. An unusual and scarce item.
