The Glasgow School of Painting

Description

This is a 1st edition H/Bk copy of “The Glasgow School of Painting” by David Martin and with an introduction by Francis H Newberry and published by George Bell, London in 1897 with what is left of its unpriced dust jacket. The book has 73 pages and 59 pages of black and white illustrations and the introduction runs to an additional 23 pages and is bound in purple cloth with the titles on the spine in gold and there is an embossed design on the front board as can be seen in the scan. There is a previous owners name “Effie A. W. Neilson” on one of the front end papers but I have not found any other marks or inscriptions in the book. The jacket is very fragile and badly torn but a remarkable survivor. The book is in very good condition with no foxing and the top of the pages are gilded.
