Description

FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY AUTHOR. 8vo. With numerous in-text illustrations by H. M. Bateman and Thomas Henry. Faded red cloth, decorated and lettered in black. Spine sunned, light wear to extremities, a few bruises, edges spotted. Front hinge cracked, ffep excised and replaced by a Hull Palace Programme and ticket (11/10/21, 1st Perf.) attached with brown tape – featuring the “Welcome re-appearance of/ Geo. Robey/ The Prime Minister of Mirth” – b/w portrait frontis (excised from another title?) and two photographic reproductions, showing Hull Palace Theatre, laid in. Flat-signed in black pen to title page: “Geo. Robey”. POI to front pastedown, a few spots, else, clean. A robust fan-tweaked copy of Robey’s collection of humorous tales.
